1.
Above Their Dreamless Sleep Beside the river’s dark green flow Here, where the pine trees weep Red autumn’s winds will coldly blow Above their dreamless sleep. So let them lie, their graves bedecked Whose bones these shades invest Nor grief deny nor fear suspect The beauty of their rest.

Some see history as a legacy Some see history as a victory… or defeat Some hear the sirens of steel Some hear the sirens of iron… yet retreat When I breathe the smoke of fire and oak… I choke back the tears And when the light descends we won’t sleep… we will fight throughout the night Yet in the mirror no cheer… Yet in the mirror the image of your own fear And as we live by the sword We pay our debts to the war we can’t afford I saw you there, running where… I just cant know And when you looked back to me i knew eternity We see through the veil beyond… We see through the veil and we are alive We hear the calls in the valley We hear the calls of the dolls… and they thrive As the long night takes flight… there’s no tomorrow… And as we go, we grow weary there is naught but the enemy… Ourselves… Humanity

Deep in the smithy The metal is cast To melt in the fire And bend in the blast The nail is an anchor But also a spike And with your great rancor Lash out such a strike Slice with the dagger and Squeeze with the vice I will see you stagger I won’t hear christ So strike with the hammer And stab with the nail Stumble and clamber And Cry out a great wail Cut with the saw Hew with the axe By the Book of The Law I won’t pay your spirit tax The hammer of destiny It shines in the sun But it falls swiftly For everyone Shines in the sun…
4.
Didn’t Give Enough We scraped our fingers to the bone Just so we wouldn’t be alone We poured the fire down our throats Just as we let go of all our hopes.. and dreams It seems That we just didn’t give enough Our last time, these crimes, resign Like we just didn’t give enough Our last joke, this smoke, we’re broke Cause we just didn’t give enough I said we just didn’t give enough We walked our feet into the ground Just so we wouldn’t be around We cut the hearts out of our chest Just so we could think we are the best And guess What's next..
5.
We Set Sail 04:45
We left port for all the glory We set the sail for the aurae All our hearts in undulation Set to overcome tribulation First few days clear and peaceful Sung fine songs and were ever thankful Keel cut through the liquid mirror Pray to Dagon spare us horror Cast your spells my sweet for tomorrow we will meet Love with abandon my dear for the coming fortnight we do fear Tomorrow we'll be dust and forget all the fuss My love for you will holdfast even long after we have past Soon the winds they blew a gustful Waves they licked upon our foaksul Our course turned to southward voyage All we could do is avoid a wreckage Clouds they closed into a coffin Marking our assured destruction The nightmare lands we discovered Our true fears were uncovered Yet we live for today and we lust for the way We will begin again like we never end Tomorrow we'll be dust and forget all the fuss My love for you will holdfast even long after we have past

As I descended further inside the humidity increased and I clutched the scarf to my neck in a futile attempt to keep the dampness at bay. I could hear flowing water in the distance and the moldy aroma of moss mixed with something much more unpleasant grazed my senses. Each step I took echoed into the not-so-distant darkness with only my small torch lighting the way. As I rounded the corner of the last stairwell I was forced to wade yet deeper to further progress to the lowest storey. Soon I was up to my waist in a fetid bog of god-knows-what as oblong boxes floated by me, the contents of which I dared not contemplate. Every animal sense in my body and brain screaming to turn back, give up this foolish task of which I have set to myself. But as I rounded the last crumbling corner I saw it, the pale green light which I knew to be the passage I had been searching for.
7.
You, you gave up the world for me and I I can never sleep through the night And we, we follow this unknown darkened path To the, the shadow that is cursed and full of wrath Three heads on the body of a hound Guards our way to the underworld It’s time to let ring such a sound And we are coming forth yet unbound And we, we lost you in the river flowing to the sea The blackened robes of Charon enveloping me Now I am bathed in clear moonlight and yet My thoughts forever focus on regret Three knots down the river of Acheron We’ve passed through the heart of Erebus Untold our harrowing of agonies Yet the scent of fire on the breeze And we are coming forth on the breeze
8.
The nights they darken hence The trees they bow their heads Return the shadows whence The northern winds they spread Take up your chosen mask Cut off the molting skin Aright your faithless past Forget the weight of sin Raise up the hallowed skull Let fly the wicked crow We will begin the cull The grey will never know To Aos Si we implore Burn forth the sacred flame And drink the blood of yore The dead will be ordained We’ll bring the spirits forth again to codify the end! This world now it has changed The night it is proclaimed The dead will rise again And come the Samhain reign
9.
We, we won’t fight For the might Of the Empire We’ll trade our scythe For the knife Reclaim our tired lives Take in the light Blind the sight Of the sycophants Hark, heed the call And let fall The Colosseum Watch as the Horses flee No quarter for the Master’s greed The city is In disbelief The royalty They are in grief As we gather Around the king We can’t hold back We have to sting
10.
I, I can’t feel nothing Until you give me life And you, you can’t love nothing Until you hold me dear And I, I can’t see nothing Until I, I see your face And you, you can’t hear nothing Until you hearken my cry For We will crawl to the sun And we will crawl to your love And you trust in this sacrifice And I will rise beyond this paradise For I am wayward Until I heed your word And you, you are shameless Until I chasten you Yet I am aimless Until you show me the path And you, you are obstinate Until I open your mind We crawl to the sun And we crawl to your love And you trust in this sacrifice I will rise beyond this paradise

about

Victory & Defeat is a journey through a world in turmoil manifesting itself in 10 songs of unrest, esoterica, and a dark determination with a few promises of peaceful release. Spanning haunting dirges, dark folk, melodramatic pop, and epic swells of faithless calls to the deep; the record is the next chapter in the Headstone Brigade saga. Brought to you by Weregnome Records.
